PARTY ANIMALS & FRIENDS | LIVE @ Pockets

This is the “Original Supergroup” created over three decades ago for the Corner Hotel Music Industry night. “Pink Floyd” was so impressed with the band that they joined them on stage.
They don’t come much better live than The Party Animals, a collection of seasoned musicians who have mastered the art of “Aussie Pub Rock”.
Over the years they have built an outstanding reputation as a powerhouse band with outstanding vocals, incredible energy and blistering guitar solos.
The band pays homage to the Aus Pub Scene of the 70’s and 80’s, covering songs by Inxs, Angels, Dragon, Billy Thorpe, Icehouse, Hoodoo Gurus, Stevie Wright, Mondo Rock, Daddy Cool

Wayne Gale – Guitar
Andy Persichetti – bass and vocals
Laurie Duffy – guitar and vocals
Wayne Morry Mathews – guitar and vocals
Darren Ryan – drums
Ron Martini – guitar and vocals
Chris Darkie Wilson – keys and vocals

About the band members:

Wayne Gale –
Wayne has played on shows with international artists like Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Roy Buchannon, Spencer Davis, Charlie Musselwhite, Fabulous Thunderbirds. Both Charlie Musselwhite and Lonnie Brooks invited Wayne to visit America and play with them at The Chicago Blues Festival. Wayne also played guitar on the Hayley’s Comet project which had some of Australia’s finest musicians on it. He worked in the studio on some of his re-arrangements of classic songs with Australian legend and Arai winner Peter Blyton who was the producer who did “Run To Paradise” by the Choirboys. Peter also did a lot of recording with Michael Hutchence from Inxs and has also worked with bands like Metallica and was the in house producer for Sony Records. Prior to Covid, Wayne and Peter had been talking about doing an album of The Party Animals and using their rearrangements of the songs they were playing.

Andy Persichetti –
Andy was a member of Dekadance who toured Australia supported acts such as Cold Chisel and Dragon. Andy opened for John Farnham across Australia on the Whispering Jack Tour.
He has also shared the stage with many an international act such as Joe Walsh, Canned Heat, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Spencer Davis, Bay City Rollers, Susie Quatro. He also played guitar in Olivia Newton-John’s band when she appeared on Countdown promoting her song Xanadu.

Darren Ryan –
Darren was the Party Animals drummer for 10 years at The Corner Hotel . Since those days he has played in bands and recorded with Adam Thompson – Chocolate Starfish, Steve Kilby – The Church.
Until recently Darren had been living in Sydney where he played in fun bands with many of Australia’s best known musicians.
Darren was chosen as the drummer for The Soul Movers a super star band put together by Murray Cook the guitar player from the Wiggles. The band went to America and recorded in some of the most legendary studios in America. The album was nominated for a Grammy.

Laurie Duffy –
Laurie was playing in a band at The Corner Hotel and was instantly asked to come along and be a guest of The Party Animals. From that first jam he became a permanent member of the band and cemented his place both as a vocalist and guitarist. Since those early times he has matured both vocally and musically and could easily hold his place in any major band in Australia. He has shared the stage with many overseas bands and shares basically the same credentials that the other members of the band have.

Wayne Morry Mathews –
Morry as everyone knows him as has an incredible musical story. Prior to joining the Party Animals he was a legend on the Melbourne Music Scene and was a member of The Incredible Penguins a super star band put together by Molly Meldrum. They were a major band in Melbourne in the 80’s and recorded a single “ Happy Xmas – the War is Over” and it reached no 1 in England and was also a no 1 in Australia. Morry also played bass and vocals in The Masters Apprentices and did several major tours of Australia. He is well known as a brilliant musician and outstanding front man.

Ron Martini –
Ron is best known as the singer for Dear Enemy who had the hit “Computer One”. The band was very successful in the 80’s and had a number of hits.
After Dear Enemy Ron went on to play with Brian Cadd, Max Merrit.
he has played and recorded in America.
Ron has also been a member of Absolutely 80’s with Scott Cann and Brian Mannix. He has countless recordings as a session singer and was even a member of Big and Horny.

The Forklift Assassins are Mike on drums and vox, Sanjin on guitar and backing vox, Adam on guitar and Alex on the bass. These guys produce a no-holes-barred experience, bleeding you ears and frying your brain. Their live show is controlled chaos with more grunt than an angry bull.

The Mexican musician and producer Paul Michel has put together a live band to perform his punk rock solo project Walls & Waves and to start working in his third album after a break from the last EP ‘Mars Melody Memory’ released last year. As Paul mentioned, ‘the aims for the third albums of W&W is to allocate the psychedelic sound into a more progressive and grunge noise’.

A Study in Red:
A Study in Red is a 4-piece punk rock band known for their high-energy performances and sharp, unforgettable sound. After releasing ‘Mr Popularity’ last year, they’re gearing up to drop an explosive EP this year.

The line-up includes best mates for over 30 years Steve Dundon on vocals/guitar & Matt Powell vocals/guitar, Matt is an amazing singer and Dundo as frontman will keep you entertained for the duration.
Clocking up over 20 years playing alongside the boys also is Australian guitar legend ‘JD’ John Dallimore vocals/guitar and Chocolate Starfish original .Norm Falvo on keys/vocals, Throw in another musical heavyweight Kevin Murphy , an amazing drummer and singer…he only did 7 years with LRB in the states…Kev has played with everyone and his smile is infectious.

Our most recent additions to this lineup are Neil (Ozzie) Osborne on keys and sax and Brett Hapi Bass guitar.These boys have slotted in perfectly and most importantly are great blokes.
